Raquel Althoff is a senior human rights and business expert and works as a consultant for our team.
As an Engineer and Economist, Raquel has many years of experience in corporate responsibility, with a specific focus on business and human rights. She has coordinated projects related to the implementation of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, sustainable finance, HSEC management systems, social audit programs and sustainable supply chains. The foundation of her experience comes from the mining and fashion industry, having also worked in energy, logistics and the steel industry.
She worked for Vale, a Brazilian mining company, for 10 years where she led several initiatives to implement the UNGPs, engaging stakeholders from areas as diverse as Procurement, Legal, Operations, HSEC, Risk Management, Security, Investors Relations, Finance and Community Relations. She acquired relevant expertise on the integration of human rights aspects into risk management processes. She also acted as the Ethical Trade Senior Manager at Zalando, Europe’s leading online fashion platform, where she was responsible for supply chain compliance on social and labour conditions of 450 factories located in 27 countries. As an independent consultant, she has supported Zalando to develop their human rights strategy, as well as their compliance program to monitor Corporate Responsibility aspects of over 2,000 fashion brands.
She holds a MSc in Business Administration and an Engineer’s Degree.
